Help - Glossary - S - Skins and Themes
Skins and Themes relates to the general look of Squeak's environment, for which see also Looks.
The general looks of Squeak evolved over the years, and can still be much improved, and probably will be soon. The different general looks of a program are often referred to as skins which may be gathered in sets of skins called themes. (The usage is somewhat variable, but usually obvious from the context.)
Several persons have tried providing Squeak with different skins and themes. The best approach I have seen is by Steve Wessels, who wrote code for Squeak 3.5 that adapts free open source skins for Linux for Squeak. This work isn't finished, but it seems one viable way for Squeak to get a better overall look for windows and menus. Here is a link to Steve Wessels site: http://www.preeminent.org/squeak/index.html that contains more useful code.
