Help - Glossary - M - Modularity

Modularity is the big guiding idea behing OOP (= Object Oriented Programming):

To try to divide the subject matter in several modules each of which has a clear purpose and function, and all of which together make up the subject matter. Accordingly, when programming one tries to subdivide the task to be programmed into parts that hang together, and perhaps subdivide these parts again, and then built the parts and therefrom the whole.

In Smalltalk and Squeak the modules are called Objects.
