 A - Analysis

Analysis: Taking apart; distinguishing some of the parts of something and trying to understand some of their properties and relations.

There is a school of philosophy (speaking metaphorically) called analytical philosophy, mostly characterized by a serious concern with logical and scientific methods and approaches to philosophy.

Also, one of the alternative names for the calculus - differential and integral - is 'analysis'.
