  Changes in the English part

These are the English additions, changes and corrections  of 2009.

For earlier ones see 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008
For the Dutch changes see

  • Dec 25, 2009: Added the section Directories to the Tour of the site and several other places in the Help-section.

  • Dec 25, 2009: Added Emma Goldman's "The Individual, Society and the State" with my notes to Nederlog. (Apart from the beginning and end this is all in English.)

  • Dec 20, 2009: The Amsterdam municipal report on the Amsterdam Metro fraud has been published. There is an English piece about it in Nederlog of December 20, that I recommend to all blind admirers of mayor Job Cohen in America and England: He is a great actor, and therefore a highly effective political crook.

  • Dec 18, 2009: The Site-News has been updated.

  • Dec 16, 2009: Got rid of some notational glitches in  Basic Natural Logic and LPA02.

  • Dec 15, 2009: As of yesterday there is the Zip of the site for the whole site mentioned in the item below this.

There also now is an Overview: The site per directory briefly explained that is an alternative or supplement to the map of the site and gives a fair indication of what is on the site.

And a new start of Basic Natural Logic.

  • Dec 13, 2009: Added a link to and short explanation about the Phoenix Forums (so called by me because they are related to Phoenix Rising site about ME) in the material in ME -sites. If you have ME or want to know about it, you should check these out! Very informative and helpful!

Improved the Map of the site some.

As of today there is on the site in Denmark a zip-file + set of zip-files for the whole site. Given sufficient health, it will be tomorrow in Holland as well, and be announced in Nederlog.

  • Dec 4, 2009: Improved a little in Propositional Logic - Extended: Algebraic semantics that remains a mere sketch (with at least one mistake less), and idem Propositional Attitudes - Foundations.

  • Dec 3, 2009: There is a new file ME-sites, that is new in the sense that it has been rwadically revised in view of what I learned about ME the last three months/.

  • Nov 30, 2009: The site-opening has now links to both of the sites I currently maintain, thar are copies, and also there is, in Dutch, shocking news about ME that you can find in detail and with proofs in Hillary Johnson's excellent The Why. (Prepare yourself to be amazed and sickened - unless you are an ME-psychiatrist or sadist, of course!)

  • Nov 19, 2009: The rest of the site has been iconified (see Nov 17).

  • Nov 18, 2009: Changed the Philosophy-opening a bit. Added Antinomy to my Philosophical Dictionary.

  • Nov 17, 2009: Part of the site - the sections Nederlog + Nedernieuws, Multatuli, and the Philosophical Dictionary - have been iconified, which is to say, in this case, that the files in this section now come with an icon like so
that you will see to the left of the title or filename in your browser. Its size is 766 bytes, which takes 4 Kb on your harddisk in Windows (for Windows doesn't make smaller files). See Nederlog of today (in Dutch).

  • Nov 11, 2009: There now is a beginning of my Philosophical Essays, that so far contains only three essays that already were on the site.

  • Nov 9, 2009: Changed the backgroundfiles of my Philosophical Dictionary to blue (again).

  • Nov 8, 2009: Changed the opening files of my Philosophical Dictionary a little (mostly visual).

  • Nov 6, 2009: The Computing-section is again a bit updated (essentially: culled), and I uploaded two files - Assembly and Smalltalk - that state my present position on these: For Assembly, go Masm32; for Smalltalk, don't (unless you know it well already).

  • Nov 3, 2009: There is no an icon-file attached to the site and a few files. It says MM in red with blue underlining.

  • Nov 2, 2009: I have somewhat updated the Computing-section. The main news apart from the update is that my site discontinues the old stuff related to Squeak and to RosAsm. Also changed the opening a little (removed some empty lines). And the ME-section.

  • Nov 1, 2009: I have considerably extended the lemma Fallacy in my Philosophical Dictionary.

  • Oct 28, 2009: I have withdrawn my partial support for the British NICE-Guidelines, after reading evidence relating to these guidelines this month, and also removed these Guidelines from my site. The reasons are here:   M.E. - NICE-ME.

  • Oct 27, 2009: There now is indeed a new second edition of Rochefoucauld's Maxims with my comments. It may need some finicking, but it is basically done.

  • Oct 26 , 2009: Added an English edition of of De la Boétie's The Discourse of Voluntary Servitude and likewise of De la Rochefoucauld's Maxims (to a selection of which there have been answers of mine on my site since 1997).

  • Oct 25 , 2009: Updated many files as regards their backgrounds, and the Philosophy-opening with more contents in the left pane.  Why philosophy is important, Natural Philosophy and  Philosophical Assumptions. (Maybe I do a rewrite of these, maybe not.)

  • Oct 19 , 2009: English texts in Nederlog for October (sofar): Hier staat niets (English text), Creeps... Google scans ALL - plus some!,  More about computer security - 1,  More about computer security - 2,  A little more about ME and me.

Also, there has been added a brief text of my policy as regards E-mails to my mail-address, that you ought to consult if you want to mail me: The brief of it is that if its title doesn't relate clearly to me or my site, in an individual way also, it will be removed as spam, and you
    wasted your time.

  • Oct 14 , 2009: Incidentally... there are now some English pieces in Nederlog, such as 39 Questions about the qualities of education and government in the Netherlands (orig. 1988) that explains why I am much hated in Amsterdam and Holland, especially now that 21 years later it turned out I was completely right. Also I have added it to ME in Amsterdam (about my misery with ME in Amsterdam).

And the four main sections of the site - Philosophy, Logic, Computing, ME - now all have an opening similar to that of the site.

  • Sep 27, 2009: Added Art to the Philosophical Dictionary and updated the latter with some 25 changes of the last few months that I had forgotten to upload, I guess mostly of typos.

  • Sep 20, 2009: The section Nieuw/New in 2009 (on this site - and this list only some things that may be important to some) has been updated, and I have removed a listing of the files of this site (as pretty useless). And there is - since a few days - a new BitsAndPieces.

  • Sep 18, 2009: The map has been updated again to reflect the present sizes of directories a bit more correctly, and meanwhile a Squeak image and RosAsm material, that took rather a bit of space, have been removed.

  • Sep 10, 2009: The map has been updated to contain the Swift and  De la Boétie sections that have been added to the Philosophers-section.

Swift in fact concerns the voyage to the land of the Houyhnhnms in Gulliver's Travels, and  De la Boétie contains a Dutch translation of  the Discourse of  Volontary Servitude (and this last link is to a good English translation, that I may later also add to my site with my comments.

NOTE PLEASE that since  have ADSL , i.e. June 2009, this list of updates is less often updated (because it is easy to make small changes fast, and too much work to try to document these all).

  • Aug 2, 2009: Added two new short entries to my  Philosophical Dictionary: Solidariteit (Dutch) and Sexism.

The greatest part of the 109 Kb of my notes to Chapter 1 of Aristotle's Ethics have disappeared. Those who have a full copy are hereby kindly asked to mail me a copy of it, and requested not to steal from me for their own Ph.D., as has happened to me befor.

  • July 31, 2009: Added Bernard Mandeville's prose explanations of The Fable of the Bees.

  • July 30, 2009: Added Jonathan Swift's anthropological study voyage IV to the country of the Houynhnms to the Philosophers-section.

  • July 20, 2009: Removed the files of The Works for RosAsm for various reasons, such as a McAfee-report of a virus in a file contained in it, and because both RosAsm and BUAsm if not dead are more or less in coma, and I myself am and remain ill.

  • July 19, 2009: Rather a lot changed since May, mostly because my computer was hacked, although my noble providers of, who can't even program, tell me that ain't so.

On the other hand, most is the same, if perhaps by now a bit better formatted, and most changes, if not all, belong to Nederlog (Dutch)

  • May 7, 2009: New openining. Old opening.

  • May 6, 2009: New openining. Old opening. Similar.

  • May 5, 2009: Touched up the experiment with a new site design a little.

  • May 3, 2009: There is now an experiment with a new site design. You find it under HOME in the opening page and HOME there leads you back. Here it is.

  • May 2, 2009: There 's a possibly funny experiment + exhortarion by me on ME, that also illustrates a bit of html. (Skip the Dutch bits if you don't read Dutch.) It also tests Firefox and Frontpage for me.

  • May 1, 2009: Changed the opening-frames because of display-problems (no display at all) with the background in Firefox 3.0.10. (Maybe more should be changed this way..).
Also added new versions of Classical Probability and Learning by Experience and Basic Natural Logic.

  • Apr 22, 2009: Small extension of Power: Clarification of the logical notation I use and of the interrelation of Power and Happiness and of Happines and Wishful Thinking. Also updated the map of the site some and my Squeak pages (that may also need some relinking). The reason they didn't look well is that they've been mostly automatically updated with the rest of the site, while they were originally written in a fairly bugged html-editor Adobe supplied - which mixed up the colors, eventually.

I'll try to straighten this out, because the Squeak part of my site has and had many visitors - and if the links don't work yet, it is because I still have to do some relinking.

And there is now also a new version (old text though) of my Comments, if not today then tomorrow or the day after that.

  • Apr 21, 2009: Small update in ME-section namely an update in Stukjes over ME (mostly Dutch)

  • Apr 20, 2009: Small update my  Philosophical Dictionary in Cogito ergo sum.

  • Apr 17, 2009: There is now a zip with the latest RosaHelps.
It is here Its size is 1,284,078 bytes, and it is one step more towards version 1.0.

  • Apr 15, 2009: Some more in RosaHelps and a great upload of "everything you need" to enjoy Rosa in RosaWorks.

  • Apr 14, 2009: There is as yet no zip as claimed yesterday (later this month...), but there is more in RosaHelps.

  • Apr 13, 2009: There is a zip for the present version of RosaHelps namely It is 1202 Kb i.e. 1.2 MB html, copied from the site as of today, minus administration files.

  • Apr 12, 2009: There's a little more in Inference (namely Peirce) in the the Philosophical Dictionary andmore (such as Lesson_02) in RosaHelps. There also is a new version for it viz. 0.6.

  • Apr 1, 2009: An addition to the Philosophical Dictionary: Careerism.

  • Mar 24, 2009: Uploaded a little more to RosaHelps. There soon will be a new zip.

  • Mar 19, 2009: There now is a zipfile (version 05 of 18-03-2009). Also updated the New-on-site section.

  • Mar 18, 2009: There now is the start of a new section Basics in RosaHelps.

  • Mar 17, 2009: There now is a zipfile of RosaHelps-0.4. It is a little over 1 MB (and still a work in progress).

  • Mar 16, 2009: Update to the List of all operators: It is done (gruntwork!) as is the Mnemonics-Reference in RosaHelps. For the time being this is the first corrected and updated version.

  • Mar 14, 2009: Update to the Mnemonics-Reference and List of all operators (getting into shape, but not yet fully done: Up to O.).

  • Mar 13, 2009: There is now the beginning of a rewrite of the helpfile for RosAsm on this site. It is meant for the new 64-bits edition and is a work in progress, that is far from finished, yet at present useful, for one thing because it contains a survey and description of all the operators in assembly. See Mnemonics-Reference and List of all operators. The helpsystem to be is at present called RosaHelps and is derived from the one that comes with RosAsm.

  • Mar 10, 2009: Finally an update of and new lemma - long overdue - in my  Philosophical Dictionary namely Gibbon, Edward.

  • Mar 7, 2009: Really updated the - Dutch - "Stukjes over ME" in the ME-section (I forgot to do it before).

  • Mar 3, 2009: Updated the - Dutch - "Stukjes over ME" in the ME-section.

  • Feb 11, 2009: Updated the Cogito ergo sum-entry the Philosophical Dictionary (English version), and the French edition of Chamfort (that suffered from accented e-s as in "é", that seem beyond modern computing, so far).

  • Feb 5, 2009: Reviewed the sections "New on this site in philosophy" and remade the one for 2008 that had disappeared.

  • Feb 2, 2009: Added W.K. Clifford and his "The Ethics of Belief", that has been on my site for quite a few years with my notes to the list of Philosophers. (I should have been put it there from the start).
Also included this in the sitemap.

  • Feb 1, 2009: Put the second edition of my edition of Bertrand Russell's "Problems of Philosophy" on the side. It differs from the first edition in being a bit better formatted and having the passages by Russekk I comment on in the notes now also quoted in the notes, so these can be read independently.

  • Jan 30, 2009: Updated the sitemap (which is the best survey a.k.a. overview of the site) and improved it somewhat. The general files should now be easily accessible by way of sitemap, but I still have to make TOCs for my comments on philosophical classics and link these to the sitemap. (At present they link to the first files of these, that do link to the rest.)

  • Jan 24, 2009: Updated the Philosophical Dictionary (minimalistically, though).

  • Jan 17, 2009: Updated help - intro, with an added statistical fact and plug of Notesnotes - intro, mostly concerning ME; notes - copyright, concerning the nr of internal links; notes - whatnot, noting I have two providers I don't control; notes - MEinAmsterdam, with some English explanations of Dutch prose about Dutch topics. Also updated the map a bit.

  • Jan 14, 2009: Added the addition of ME in Amsterdam - 2008 to ME news (it is in Dutch though). This consists of 136 pieces from Nederlog.

  • Jan 8, 2009: Corrected the year in this file.

  • Jan 1, 2009: Changed the link of the index of Nederlog in the opening frame, since this changed in the new year.
